Online university moves from Kansas City to Lenexa

LENEXA (AP) — Grantham University, an online private university, is moving its headquarters from northern Kansas City to Lenexa.

The move will take 340 employees across the state border. Grantham officials cited a rapid growth in enrollment for the move.

The Kansas City Star reported enrollment since the university moved to Kansas City in 2005 has more than doubled to 17,000. It says the move to a larger building will allow the school to increase its staff to 450 employees in the next few years. The move is expected to occur by March.

The school offers 38 associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, all online. It is particularly popular with military personnel.

The school headquarters moved to Kansas City from New Orleans in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.
