Early first half run lifts Lady Tigers to win over Nebraska-Kearney

Fort Hays State used an early 12-0 run to build a 12-point the added a 13-2 run later in the first half to go up 20 and defeat Nebraska-Kearney 81-53 Saturday afternoon at Gross Coliseum, ending their three-game win streak. The Lady Tigers improve to 17-7 overall and 10-7 in the MIAA. UNK drops their third straight and is now 8-16 and 4-13 in the conference.

After grabbing the early 12-point, the Lady Tigers never led Nebraska-Kearney any closer than nine the first of the first half and lead 41-26 at halftime.

UNK opened the second half on an 11-4 run to pull within eight, but the Lady Tigers answer with an 11-2 run. They would push the lead as high as 30, closing the game on a 13-2 run.

Kate Lehman led FHSU with 26 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocked shots. Chelsea Mason added 13 points.

UNK was led by Nicole Arp who scored a career-high 19.

FHSU shot just 39-perecent and were just 2-for-14 from 3-point range but hit 21-of-29 free throws and outrebounded UNK by 17 and had 23 offensive rebounds producing 31 second chance points.
