FHSU’s Woodburn and Saravia selected to compete at Indoor Nationals

Fort Hays State women’s track and field athletes Samantha Woodburn and Gabriela Saravia have been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, held March 14-15 in Salem, N.C. The event will be held at the JDL Fast Track.Woodburn qualified for nationals by ranking 12th in the nation in the 60-meter dash. She ran a school-record time of 7.61 seconds this past weekend at the MIAA Championships to solidify her spot in the field. She had a provisional mark in the 200 meters for the indoor season as well, a school record of 25.14 seconds, but the time was not quite enough to get into the championship field. A total of 19 individuals were selected to compete in the 60 meters.

Saravia qualified by tying for the 16th-best mark in Division II during the indoor season. She is one of 17 individuals selected to compete in the event. Her qualifying height was 5’7.75″, which is an indoor record in her native country of Peru.

Woodburn will compete in the prelims of the 60 meters on Friday (Mar. 14) at 4:20 pm ET/3:20 pm CT. If she qualifies for the finals, that will take place Saturday at 4:50 pm ET/3:50 pm CT. Saravia is scheduled to compete in the high jump at 2:15 pm ET/1:15 pm ET on Saturday (Mar. 15).
