Three injured in icy Wednesday morning crash

Screen Shot 2014-03-02 at 10.48.37 AMGOVE — Three people were injured in a Wednesday morning accident blamed on slick roads.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 2006 Mercury Mariner driven by Christopher C. Jaso of Scott City was northbound on Kansas 23 a mile north of Gove at 6:20 a.m.

The driver failed to negotiate a curve due to icy road conditions and traveled off the roadway into the east ditch.

The vehicle overturned an unknown amount of times coming to a rest on its wheels facing west.

Three passengers in the vehicle Skyler M. Denning, 23, Hoisington; Maria D. Cavender, 32, Great Bend; and Saxon A. Denning, 20, Great Bend, were transported to Gove County Medical Center. Jaso was not injured.

The KHP said only the driver was wearing a seat belt.
