SCHOENCHEN — Ellis County Rural Fire responded to a grass fire Monday afternoon just north of Schoenchen.

Rural Fire Director Dick Klaus said the fire, started by an electrical line, burned approximately 5 acres near the 1800 block of Norfolk Road in southern Ellis County.

Fire crews were called to the scene at approximately 1:30 p.m. The fire got close to some farm buildings, but no structures were damaged.

“Thank gosh, we got there on time,” Klaus said.
