Eagle Communications Broadband provides USD 489 with “reliable solution” (VIDEO)

USD 489 board members voted to accept the bid from Eagle Communications for E-Rate “internet and building connectivity” at Monday evening’s school board meeting.

Eagle Broadband General Manager Travis Kohlrus addressed the board.  Kolrus said Eagle is using dedicated fiber which will run between district buildings to a central location:

According to USD 489 Technology Director Brian Drennon a form 470 was submitted for Internet and building connectivity for the district in January 2014. After a full bidding process and reviewing responses, the board recommended accepting Eagle Communication’s fiber solution for their “building connectivity and internet access.”

Drennon said the Washington Elementary E-rate wireless project is still under review and will be discussed at the March 24th USD 489 board of education work session.

The district is using E-Rate funds to fund internet access and building connectivity.   According to the U.S. Department of Education, the E-Rate program provides “discounts of up to 90 percent to help eligible schools obtain affordable telecommunications.
