Great Lakes is out; SkyWest is in.
The city of Hays announced this afternoon in a news release that the United States Department of Transportation has awarded SkyWest Airlines as the Essential Air Service provided for Hays, Kansas.
The effective period will be from July 1, 2014 to July 31, 2016. It is anticipated that there will be twelve (12) nonstop round trips per week to Denver, Colorado.
SkyWest will operate as United Express.
City officials and local business leaders have been unhappy with Great Lakes’ many flight cancellations and delays the past year and have pushed for the change to SkyWest.
Further information will be available in the near future as well as public notices to help provide a smooth transition to the new Essential Air Service provider.
