Kansas man gets life plus 228 years in killings

jail.jpgWICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A Wichita man has been sentenced to two life terms plus 228 years in prison for taking part in the city’s first two homicides of 2013.

The Wichita Eagle reports a jury convicted 21-year-old Shawn Brown in January of two counts of first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Shawn Rhone and Adji Tampone. He also was convicted of aggravated robbery, attempted aggravated robbery and criminal discharge of a firearm.

Brown is one of three brothers convicted in the Jan. 2, 2013, drug-related killings. One of the brothers, 20-year-old Jerone Brown, was convicted in January of two counts of first-degree murder and will be sentenced in April.

Mike Brown was sentenced in January to life in prison for his role in Rhone’s murder.
