Sheriff: Deputies investigate fight, find pot plants

BUNKER HILL — Russell County authorities arrested a man today in Bunker Hill for allegedly growing pot.

According to a news release from Russell County Sheriff John R. Fletcher, deputies responded to the 200 block of Eighth Street after a report of a domestic disturbance.

Fletcher said Howard R. Northcutt has been involved in a fight with his sister, then had left the residence. While officers were investigating, he returned to the home.

Deputies reported finding several containers with potting soil in plain view, one allegedly containing a marijuana plant. After receiving and executing a search warrant, deputies reported finding marijuana-growing paraphernalia and seven plants.

Northcutt was arrested on allegations on domestic battery, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and manufacture of a controlled substance/marijuana.
