Starting Monday, the Hays Public Library will begin offering Hoopla, a service that allows patrons to stream movies, television shows, music and audiobook titles using a computer, smartphone or tablet.
The service is exclusive for libraries and is free for patrons with a library card.
Benefits of Hoopla include:
- No hold lists
- Instant access
- No excessive data plan use
- Titles download from the Cloud
- Downloads straight to device so titles can be played without Internet
- Register only once to access all content available
Hoopla offers 8,000 movie titles, 100,000 music albums and 10,000 audiobooks — new titles as well as classic favorites, educational materials, children’s titles and foreign films. Loan times differ from regular library materials. Audiobooks are checked out for three weeks, music albums for one week, and movies for 72 hours. Hoopla automatically returns the titles at the end of the loan period, so there are never late fees.
Library cards are free, and it only takes a few minutes to sign up. Visit the circulation desk on the main floor for adults and the second floor for children and teens.
