Ellis County Administrator Greg Sund did not get the city administrator position in Hood River, Ore.

A person with the city of Hood River confirmed the position has filled by Steve Wheeler of Portland, Ore.

Sund, along with Wheeler, was one of five finalists for the position and took part in a public meeting and panel with city council and staff at the end of February.

Sund was also considered a finalist for the city administrator position in Minot, N.D., earlier this year. Officials there chose to open the reopen the search, and Sund declined to resubmit his application.

Sund was hired in 2010 as Ellis County’s first administrator.

When asked for comment, Sund declined.
