The Hays Beautification Committee will host the city’s 2014 Arbor Day observation at noon April 17 at Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course.

Community members are encouraged to join the celebration of the continued importance of trees in Hays.

The event will include recognition of the 2014 Smokey Bear Poster Contest student winners, and the city of Hays will be awarded the 2014 Tree City USA Award for the 35th consecutive year.

Three trees also will be planted at the golf course.
