NCKTech LOCAL SPORTS BANNER USE TFN
Quite a return for the TMP-Marian softball program. Playing for the first time since suspending the program following the 2011 season due to lack of players, the Monarchs split their season-opening doubleheader with Salina Sacred Heart Thursday at the TMP Field.

The Monarchs win the opener 18-6 in six innings then lose the second game 24-13, also in six innings.

TMP has 19 players out for softball this season, 11 of which are freshman.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 18, Sacred Heart 6
Allison Helget picks up the win. Kelli Veach went 4-for-4 at the plate while Heidi Gottschalk tripled and drove in four.

Game 2: Sacred Heart 24, TMP-Marian 13
The game was tied going to the sixth inning when the Knights scored 10 runs. Helget takes the loss.
