Glenn Allen Lacy

Glenn Allen Lacy, age 48, of Ellis passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at Hays Medical Center. He was born August 31, 1965 in Greenfield, Indiana to Marian (Ghumm) and Michael Lacy. He attended school in WaKeeney. He married Scottie Matteson on November 2, 1985 at the United Methodist Church in Ellis.

Glenn graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in 1996 and Served in law enforcement for 20 years including Plainville, Rooks County, and Ellis. He received a meritorious service award from the city of Ellis and the Ellis police department in 2007.
He was recently employed by Blick’s Phosphate Conversions of Garden City.

He was very active in the communities he lived in serving as a Boy Scout Troop Leader in Plainville and Ellis, Ellis County Fair Board, D.A.R.E officer. He was a member of the Ellis United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors cooking and camping and he was a Dallas Cowboys fan. Most of all Glenn was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife Scottie of the home; his children, Laura Cooksey and husband Ryan of Quinter, Glenn Lacy Jr and wife Kristen of Marshfield, Missouri, Jessica Steele and husband Jeremy of Hays; His mother, Marian Hanks of WaKeeney; his father, Michael Lacy and stepmother Linda of Paoli, Indiana; two sisters, Tami Herskowitz and husband Mark of WaKeeney and Vonda Ackerman and husband Bob of Ellis; a brother, Richard Hanks and wife Jennifer of WaKeeney; five grandchildren, Cole Cooksey of Quinter, Jayden, Jaycee and Jesstyn Steele of Hays and Tyler Crawford of Marshfield, MO; In-Laws, Glynn “Skip” and Diana Matteson of Salina, KS, Sister-In-Law, Mary Beth Dodson and husband Randy of Stockton, MO; a Brother-In-Law, Lonnie Matteson and wife Tami of Pottsboro, TX.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grand parents, William and Rose Ghumm, paternal grandparents, Paul Lacy and Clara (Lacy) Brown, Brother-In-Law, Mark Matteson and step-father, “Chubby” Hanks.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday at the Ellis United Methodist Church. Burial will follow services in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ellis.

Visitation will be Friday 4 PM – 8 PM at Keithley Funeral Chapel in Ellis and Saturday 9 AM until service time at the church.
