HPD arrests 18-year-old in connection with burglaries

A 18-year-old is under arrest in connection with burglaries occurring early Saturday morning, between 12:30 and 1:30 a.m.

Gabriel Vallejo, 18, Hays, was arrested at 3:31 a.m. April 5 in the 700 block of West Eighth on suspicion of aggravated burglary, burglary, felony theft and theft.

According to Lt. Ron Rounkles of the Hays Police Department, residents in the 700 block of West 12th found a man sitting in one of their cars and called police.

The suspect, Gabriel Vallejo, 18, reportedly fled the scene but was quickly apprehended in the 700 block of West Eighth.

Vallejo was arrested on allegations of aggravated burglary, burglary and theft. The aggravating factor stems from the fact that one of the homes was occupied at the time of the alleged offense.

The value of the recovered items is around $1,000.
