A drastically colder day will be found across Western Kansas today versus yesterday, as a cold front moves through the area.

Temperatures will fall to the low 40s by late afternoon with a chance of rain. North winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph through the afternoon to make it feel much colder.

As a second storm system approaches tonight, rain may mix with and then change to snow before ending Monday morning. Lows tonight will be in the 20s.

A hard freeze will occur early Monday morning and again early Tuesday morning. Monday will see highs in the 40s with very windy conditions. Improvement will occur Tuesday, as warmer air moves back into the region, with another chance of rain on Thursday.

Today: A chance of rain and thunderstorms, then rain likely after 11am. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 42 by 5pm. Very windy, with a north wind 18 to 23 mph increasing to 28 to 33 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Rain and snow likely, becoming all snow after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 28. Very windy, with a north wind 24 to 32 mph, with gusts as high as 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Monday: A 20 percent chance of snow before 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 46. Breezy, with a north wind 18 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. North northwest wind 11 to 16 mph becoming west northwest 5 to 10 mph after midnight.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 63. Breezy, with a south wind 7 to 12 mph increasing to 19 to 24 mph in the afternoon.
