BROOKVILLE—Alcohol is being considered a factor in a one-car crash about a mile west of Brookville.

Saline County Sheriff’s Captain Roger Soldan reported 68-year-old James Brown of Ellsworth was westbound on K-140 about 6:40pm when his 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible went on the north shoulder of the road.

Brown over-corrected and the car went off the road on the south side of the highway, struck a field entrance, became airborne, and  came to rest in a group of trees.

Brown, who suffered a compound fracture to a leg and broken ribs was first taken to Salina Regional Health Center. He was later transferred to a Wichita hospital.
