From 7:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, crews from the Hays Fire Department will practice the procedures used to attack a large fire. This training will be at Aubel-Bickle Park on Sherman Avenue between 27th Street Terrace and 29th Street. The public is invited to observe.
The training tests the ability of the five on-duty firefighters to quickly place two high gallonage fire streams at work to control a large building fire or keep such a fire from spreading to other buildings.
In compliance with the city’s water warning, the HFD has reduced its water use for training and maintenance by 50 percent. The training is being conducted in accordance with that restriction. By conducting this training in the park, the water also is being used to help maintain the grass and other landscaping.
