SALINA — A weekend burglary of a sporting goods store netted thieves a large quantity of guns and ammunition.
Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney said someone gained entry to Cleve’s Marine and Sporting at 136 S. Broadway between Saturday evening and Monday morning. A garage door was forced open, and an alarm system was disabled.
Taken in the burglary were 100 to 120 handguns, eight to 20 semi-automatic rifles, eight to 12 knives, and nearly $5,000 in ammunition.
As of Tuesday morning estimated loss is placed at nearly $50,000.
