Fort Hays State men’s golf finished ninth at the Embassy Suites Invitational hosted by Lindenwood University, April 14-15 in St. Charles, Mo. The Tigers slipped a spot in the standings on the second day after sitting in eighth following the first day. The tournament was held at Whitmoor Country Club, a par-72 layout.
The Tigers shot 656 as a team over two rounds. FHSU improved by 16 strokes on the second day of competition. Central Oklahoma won the tournament with a total of 603, followed by Lindenwood at 613 and Washburn at 619.
Trey Herman led the Tigers by tying for ninth individually. After a 10-over par round of 82 on the first day, he bounced back for a 1-over par 73 on Tuesday. His 155 total was 10 strokes back of tournament champion Greg MacAulay of Lindenwood. MacAulay shot 1-over par total after an opening round 69 (3-under).
Grant Storey tied for 28th with rounds of 83 and 80. Nick VonLintel was one stroke back in a tie for 30th with rounds of 83 and 81. Jeff Heptig shot rounds of 88 and 86 to finish in a tie for 46th. Sam Christianson shot 95 on the first day but withdrew from the second round.
