WAKEENEY — WaKeeney city council members received good news from the state during the April 1 council meeting.
A March 24 letter from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment detailed the city’s most recent public water supply inspection by KDHE. No deficiencies were found or recommendations made.

RECORD OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE GOVERNING BODY 1 APRIL 2014
The Governing Body of the City of WaKeeney, Kansas met in a regular session at City Hall 408 Russell Ave at 7:00 PM with the Mayor presiding and the following members present:
Mayor Kenneth Roy and Council Members Mary Jo Clevenger, Irene Dirks, Troy Leiker, Lynelle Shubert, and Allen Weigel
BEING ABSENT: None
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as written, printed and distributed.
GUESTS: E. Jay Deines, Addie Zeman, Tyler Lowry, Audra Berquist, Brittany Brock, Macy Mattheyer, Cedric Flax, Megan Zahn, MiKalya Cody, Brandi Fritts, Nick Wynn, Devon Ghumm, Lincoln Brungardt, Sonya Stanton, Dillon Schmidt, Ethan Stanton, Payton Nowlin, Abigail Buchholz, Jessica Werth, Charlie Knoll and Janelle Miller.
CITY ADMINISTRATOR: Hardy Howard presented a Cereal Malt Beverage application for the Eagles Lodge #3774 for Saturday, August 2, 2014. After a brief discussion, Allen Weigel motioned to approve the CMB license for the Eagles. Mary Jo Clevenger seconded. Motion carried.
Letter dated March 24, 2014 detailing the city’s most recent public water supply inspection by KS Department of Health & Environment was reviewed by the Governing Body. No deficiencies or recommendations were found by KDHE.
A draft plat and preliminary development costs for the North Ball Field subdivision was reviewed by the Governing Body.
A motion was made by Lynelle Shubert and seconded by Mary Jo Clevenger to approve a bid from Hannebaum Grain of Salina, KS to transport rock chips for the city’s 2014 street work. Motion carried.
The city’s 2014 proposed street work plan was reviewed by the City Council.
At this time an ordinance making appropriation for the payment of claims for the month of March 2014 was read, whereupon, Troy Leiker motioned to approve claims in the amount of $128,011.09 Lynelle Shubert seconded. Motion carried. Warrant #9906 was reviewed prior to approval.
A motion was made by Lynelle Shubert and seconded by Mary Jo Clevenger to adjourn into an executive session for a period of 20 minutes for the discussion of attorney client relations. Those remaining in the executive session included Mayor Roy, City Council, City Attorney E. Jay Deines, and City Administrator Howard.
The session ended within the allotted time period.
No further business appearing, the meeting was adjourned.
