RUSSELL — The Kansas Highway Patrol said troopers were led on a 65-mile chase on Interstate 70 before the driver was arrested just after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
KHP Lt. John Riedel said the chase began on I-70 near Solomon in Dickinson County when a white Ford van was clocked traveling 89 mph. The driver had also failed to dim the vehicle’s headlights.
Troopers used stop sticks to deflate the van’s tires but the pursuit continued.
“From the Ellsworth-Lincoln County line, the van was on two rear wheels and two rims until the driver pulled over and jumped out of the vehicle,” Riedel said.
The suspect — Kenny L. Williams, 20, Kansas City — was subdued with a stun gun and arrested 5 miles west of the Wilson exit in Russell County.
He faces various charges in Dickinson County and a possible criminal damage to property charge in Russell County for damaging a patrol car with his fist.
