State Earthquake Task Force meets, wants to hear from you

Screen Shot 2014-04-01 at 8.37.15 PMWICHITA–The Kansas Earthquake Task Force held its first public meeting on Wednesday in Wichita.

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback recently established the task force with direction to study and develop a State Action Plan for potential induced seismicity.

Two representatives from the Oklahoma Geological Survey made a presentation at Wednesday’s gathering and also heard from Rick Miller of the Kansas Geological Survey and Kim Christiansen, chairwoman of the Kansas Corporation Commission.

The Task Force will accept comments on the Draft State Action Plan for potential induced seismicity through 5 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2014. Comments should reference State Action Plan for potential induced seismicity and may be sent to the Kansas Corporation Commission, Office of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, 1500 S.W. Arrowhead Road, Topeka, KS 66604, or emailed to [email protected] or you may call 1-800-662-0027.
