Hays area gets a much-needed spring shower (UPDATE)

It wasn’t a gully-washer, but last night’s rain certainly was needed. Until last night’s rain, Hays had received less than 1.5 inches of moisture in all of 2014.

Most area reports show less than an inch of rain in areas around Hays from the overnight front that moved through western Kansas, although areas to the north received much more precipitation. One report from CoCoRaHS showed 1.37 inches northwest of Hays. Click on the map for reports from Ellis County.

At Eagle Media Center, the measurement was just less than 0.2 inches, and the official measurement from the K-State Ag Research Center showed 0.15 inches.

A site in southeast Graham County reported 3.62 inches of rain.

Sun is predicted to return today, but the National Weather Service says there is a slight chance of more rain by Tuesday evening.
