Date tentatively set for the announcement of next FHSU president

At a press conference at Fort Hays State University on Wednesday, Kansas Board of Regents member Shane Bangerter, Dodge City, said  plans are to announce the next president of FHSU on May 7.

“The committee has done an excellent job,” Bangerter said. “They are excited about the pool of candidates that they have forwarded to the Board of Regents.”

Bangerter said the board plans on interviewing the candidates toward the end of this month.

President Edward Hammond also said that the date is tentative.

“The May 2 date is a target date.” Hammond said. “It’ll occur either on the second or by the seventh. … There’s really no guarantee that it’ll be the second.”

The five finalists for the position are:

• Dr. Tisa Mason, vice president of Student Affairs at Fort Hays State

• Dr. Mirta Martin, dean of the Reginald F. Lewis School of Business at Virginia State University

• Dr. Gregory Mosier, dean of the College of Business at the University of Nevada-Reno

• Dr. Michael Droge, president of Park University in Kansas City, Mo.

• Dr. Tom Jackson Jr., vice president of student affairs at the University of Louisville
