2014 Congressional Arts Competition awards on Saturday

Huelskamp(DODGE CITY, KAN.) – Congressman Tim Huelskamp will issue awards on Saturday for the 2014 Congressional Arts Competition. All high school students in the First Congressional District were encouraged to participate. The winning artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

“In previous years, I’ve received numerous outstanding submissions for our Congressional Arts Competition by the many talented young artists in our district,” Congressman Huelskamp said. “The judges stated that although choosing a winner was difficult, they were greatly inspired by the talented young artists. I am excited to announce this year’s competition and look forward to submissions from Kansas students for this competition.”

The 2014 competition will be hosted by The Birger Sandzen Memorial Gallery, 401 North First Street in Lindsborg, Kansas.

The Congressional Arts competition is divided into seven categories: paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer generated art and photography. The Show will open on Thursday, April 24th.

Awards will be given in each category and will be awarded by Congressman Huelskamp at a reception on Saturday, April 26th, 2-4pm, at the Birger Sandzen Gallery, 401 North First Street in Lindsborg.

For more information, interested students and art teachers can contact the Congressman’s Dodge City district office at 620-225-0172. Competition guidelines can also be found at https://huelskamp.house.gov/services/art-competition.
