HHS boys golf wins team and individual title at Great Bend Invite

The Hays High boys golf team brought home both the team and individual title at the Great Bend Invitational Monday at the par-71 Stone Ridge Country Club.

The Indians shot a 318 and finished 12 shots ahead of second place Dodge City.

Payton Ruder fired a 6-over-par 77 to win the individual title on a second hole playoff. Ruder and Garden City’s Taylor Larson both parred the par-3 18th in the first playoff hole. When they played the same hole the second time, Ruder made a par and Larson a bogey.

Kaden Bielman shot a 78 and finished third. Chase Lynd was seventh with an 81. Cash Hobson eight after an 82 and Lane Clark 10th with an 84.

The Indians are in Junction City Thursday.
