HHS softball splits with Garden City

The Hays High softball team closed out their regular season with a split in Garden City Tuesday. The Indains take the opener 5-1 then lose the second game 6-1. They end their regular season 16-4 overall and 5-3 in the Western Athletic Conference.

Hannah Hearld struck out 10 in the first game. The Indians scored single runs in the second and third then struck for three in the fifth. Hearld also had three hits and drove in two as did Kaylie Schoendaller.

Garden City scored early in the second game with three in the first and two in the second. Hearld allowed five runs, two earned on six hits in an inning and a third. Madison Prough drove in Hays’ only run of the game.
