HHS golf WAC champs after second place finish in Liberal

The Hays High boys golf team finished second in their final tournament of the regular season Tuesday. The Indians shot a 321 at the Liberal Invitational held at the Willow Tree Golf Course and finished two shots behind Garden City.

Nathan Romme fired a 4-over-par 76 and finished third. Kaden Beilman shot a 79 to finish sixth and Payton Ruder’s 81 was good enough for eighth.

The second place finish also secured the Western Athletic Conference championship for the Indians. Beilman, Ruder and Romme were also named First Team All-WAC with Lane Clark an honorable mention selection. Hays coach Mark Watts was named the WAC Coach of the Year.
