Two men charged in theft of classic cars

Gable and Kasper

Salina Post

SALINA–Two Dickinson County men have been charged with several counts of felony theft and felony criminal damage to property in connection with the theft of three antique cars in Saline County.

Sheriff Glen Kochanowski said 53-year-old Douglas Gable of Herington, and 47-year-old John Kasper of Hope were involved in taking the cars that included, a 1939 Plymouth 4-door sedan, a 1949 bullet nose 2-door Studebaker sedan, and a 4-door 1950 Studebaker sedan. The cars were owned by Gary Hansen of Salina, and had been parked along a hedgerow in a field on Tinkler Road.

Sheriff Kochanowski believes the cars may have been sold for scrap. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office assisted the investigation. That investigation continues, and more arrest are possible. The cars were worth an estimated $5,350.
