The Hays High Indian boy’s track team placed six individuals and one relay team on their way to a third place finished at the 2014 Kansas state track and field championships over the weekend in Wichita.
The 4 x 100 meter relay team brought home the gold in 5A with a time of 42.69 seconds. The team is made up of seniors Jordan Windholz, Shawn Herman, Clayton Riedel and junior Alex Delton.
Bishop Carroll won the team title with 85 points, Topeka Seaman was second with 62 and Hays finished third with 54 points. The win by Bishop Carroll ends the Indians run of four straight state championships.
The Hays High girls had four athletes and one relay team bring home a total of six medals as they finished 11th.
