LIBERAL, Kan. -Two people from Oklahoma were killed in a Sunday afternoon head-on crash in Seward County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Ford truck driven by Travis Ryan Burgess, 31, Turpin, OK., was traveling southbound on U.S. 83 fifteen miles north of Liberal.

The truck went left of center into the northbound lane.

A 1994 Olds passenger car driven by Gabriela Cano, 32, Hooker, OK., swerved into the southbound lane in an avoidance manuever. The truck swerved back into the southbound lane and hit the car head on.

Cano was pronounced dead at the scene.  Burgess and passengers in the car Evelin Cano, 14, Gabriela Cano, 10, Hooker, OK., were transported to Southwestern Medical Center.

Evelin Cano was pronounced dead at 4:28 p.m.

The KHP reported Evelin Cano and Burgess were not properly restrained at the time of the accident.
