Current District 1 Ellis County Commissioner Swede Holmgren confirmed Monday night his displeasure with both the Republican and Democratic parties led him not to file for re-election.

Holmgren said he is disappointed with the bickering and lack of progress coming from both parties.

He also said he will make a decision on running as an independent later this summer.

Independent candidates have until noon Aug. 4 to file for the November general election.
