HUTCHINSON — The Reno County Sheriff’s Office on Monday started receiving reports about an individual identifying himself as “Capt. Kevin Williams” of the Reno County Sheriff’s Office. The individual was advising people he had a warrant for their arrest and that if they don’t come up with a certain amount of money, they will be arrested.
This is the same type of scam that occurred recently in neighboring counties.
Sheriff Randy Henderson said his department will never request individuals pay them for a warrant or a ticket. Instead, those payments would go directly to the courts.
Anyone receiving such a call should call local law enforcement.
