Hays firefighters responded to a kitchen fire Wednesday evening at 110 West 7th Street.
Emergency crews were dispatched at 8:43 p.m., according to Fire Chief Gary Brown.
A small kitchen fire was found in one apartment of a multi-family dwelling. The fire extended to nearby combustible contents as well as cabinets over the stove. The blaze was quickly extinguished by firefighters using a foam fire extinguisher.
The most probable cause of the fire was grease in a pan on the stove that overheated, Brown said in a news release.
There were no injuries.
Brown said the occupant promptly called 911 to report the fire, helping to minimize the damage.
Twenty-two firefighters staffing five fire trucks responded. One fire truck was diverted to a second emergency call during this fire.
Crews were on the scene until 9:15 p.m.
