The HAC has several Sizzlin’ Summer art classes beginning Monday. Space is available for several children in the classes, and the HAC also has opened up a wheel-thrown pottery class for adults.

On Saturday,the public is invited to the next Community Acoustic Jam session, scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. at the HAC Annex, 1010 Main.
This also is the final week for the Smokey Hill Art Exhibition. The statewide, juried competition can be seen from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday at the arts council.
The Sizzlin’ Summer Classes that start Monday include:
Wheel-Thrown Pottery (all ages welcome!)
The class will teach the basics of working on a pottery wheel and “throwing” clay. Students will learn how to throw, sculpt and glaze wheel-thrown projects such as mugs and bowls. Cost is $38, and classes will run June 9 to 12 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Acting & The Theater (ages 12-15)
Students will work on character development through monologue, scene and group performance while strengthening acting skills through vocal, physical and centering exercises. Cost is $30, and classes will run June 9 to 12 and June 16 to 19 from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m.
Twisted Painting (ages 6-8 and 9-12)
Paint with a unique twist and flair while studying some of the greatest painters in history. Students will learn about various styles of painting and work to understand and duplicate those styles while creating a unique and “twisted” style of their own. Cost is $18. Classes run from June 9 to 12, with the younger group meeting from 10 to 10:45 a.m. and the older class meeting from 11 a.m. to noon.
