The blast furnace of wind Tuesday and into Wednesday has the chance of turning into storms late Wednesday night, the National Weather Service said.
The NWS Dodge City office is predicting a 50 percent chance of severe thunderstorms across much of the region Wednesday, primarily after 8 p.m., with probabilities increasing after midnight.
The storms could bring damaging winds, with gusts of 70 mph, and hail up to tennis ball-size, the NWS reported.
Storms could continue into Thursday morning.
