Creek beds are flowing and ponds are a little closer to full after the extraordinary daylong shower Monday.
Reports from Ellis County for the 24-hour period ending at 7 a.m. ranged from 0.78 inches in the southwest portion of the county to 3.62 inches north of Ellis.
Combined with rainfall from the previous reporting period, most of Hays received in excess of 3 inches of much-needed precipitation. The Eagle Media Center gauge showed a total of 3.09 inches.
Unlike recent fronts that have moved through and only offered minimal rains to Hays, it appears Ellis County received the most rain of any county in the region.
Russell County had a report of 2.23 inches, while eastern Trego County had a report of 1.68 inches.
Rain in Rush County was minimal, with a report from La Crosse at 0.28 inches, while western Rooks County had a 2.13-inch report.
The precipitation looks to take a short hiatus Tuesday, but the chance of thunderstorms — possibly severe — returns Wednesday.
