The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Hays and the surrounding area, as heavy rains are forecast Wednesday evening.

The watch will be in effect until Thursday morning.

The NWS said it is possible the next front moving through the region will deposit several inches of precipitation, which could cause flooding in low-lying areas, creeks and rivers, as well as roads near inundated ditches.
