Midwest Energy crews are still on the job after overnight storms in the region knocked down more than 12 power poles north of La Crosse.

The National Weather Service in Dodge City reported an 80 mph gust Wednesday night in La Crosse.

At 8 a.m. Thursday, power remained out to 171 customers in northern Rush and southern Ellis counties.

Hays crews have been working since 1 a.m.  to restore power, according to Midwest Energy, and expect to have all back on later this morning.

Two smaller outages included 53 customers at Burdett and 12 in northeast Ellis County.
