An Ellis County native now living in Lawrence is a candidate for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by Republican Pat Roberts.

Patrick Wiesner, a Democrat, grew up on a farm north of Ellis and graduated from Ellis High School in 1974.

He has two degrees from Fort Hays State University and a law degree from the University of Kansas.

Wiesner operated a CPA practice in Hays until 1989.

He now owns a firm operating a tax, bankruptcy, and business law practice.

Wiesner was in Hays Monday while campaigning in western Kansas:

Wiesner is also a judge advocate in the U.S. Army Reserve.
