Hot and windy Saturday with a chance of thunderstorms late

FileToday will start off breezy and warmer with highs in 90s this afternoon. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible across central and eastern portions of western Kansas late this afternoon into this evening.

Any storm that develops will be capable of producing large hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. Isolated tornadoes may be possible with the strongest storms.

Gusty south winds are expected to develop late this morning across central and portions of southwest Kansas. A wind advisory has been issued for the affected areas from 9am this morning through 10pm this evening.

Today: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 95. Very windy, with a south wind 23 to 31 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 2am. Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. Windy, with a south wind 18 to 28 mph becoming northwest 8 to 13 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 85. West northwest wind around 6 mph becoming east northeast in the afternoon.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. Southeast wind 6 to 9 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. South wind 10 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
