Game Highlights

Just like Friday night, the Heat scored a run in the first inning on a two-out single by Luke Doyle. David Walker singled with two outs in the third to make in 2-0. The Heat added the third run when Tanner DeVinny’s throw to third on a steal attempt ended up in left field, allowing Walker to score.

The Larks would answer with two in the bottom of the inning on Aaron Cornell’s bases loaded double.

Hays would have a runner thrown out at the plate on a ground ball to first base in the fourth. An inning later, Kevin Czarnecki lined into an inning ending double play in the fifth. They had a runner at second with one out in the seventh and failed to score and would do the same in the ninth.

Nick Goza takes the loss for the Larks, allowing all three runs on five hits in a season-high seven innings. Goza walked two and struck out three, falling to 3-1 on the season.

Brady Bowen pitches six innings, allowing two runs on three hits, walking two and striking out none and gets the win for Wellington. Robbie Romero worked around a leadoff single, striking out the final two Larks batters for the save.

The two teams close out the series Sunday night at 7pm. It’s Little League night with all area little leaguers invited to wear their uniform to the game and recognized before the game. Free admission courtesy of Pepsi and Wal-Mart.
