For a second straight season, the Wellington Heat sweeps the Hays Larks at Larks Park. A throwing error by starting pitcher Alex Daniele keyed a five-run second inning as the Heat win 10-4. They are now 14-0 and lead the Jayhawk League at 8-0. The Larks, who started the season 8-0, have now lost three of their last four and are 9-4 and 6-4 in the Jayhawk League.

Game Highlights
Trailing 3-1 and runners at second and third, Daniele tried to throw out a runner out at third on a comebacker to the mound. His throw went down the left field line allowing two runs to score. Wellington would add another run for a 6-1 lead.
The Larks, who scored in the first on a Derek Birginske two-0ut single, didn’t score again until the seventh when they took advantage of three straight walks to score three runs. Matt Luety, Derrick Mount and Nate Olinger all drove in runs to pull the Larks within 7-4.
The Heat answered with two in the eighth and one in the ninth.
Daniele (1-1) takes the loss, allowing seven runs (three unearned) on seven hits striking out three and walking three.
Junior Mustain allowed just one run on five hits over six innings and gets the win for Wellington. The Tabor College All-American retired the final 11 he faced.
The Larks open a five-game road trip Tuesday with the first two in Liberal. They open a three-game series in Derby Friday.
