WICHITA- Two people were injured in a five-vehicle collision in Sedgwick County on Monday.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Chrysler Mini Cooper driven by Monica G. Ticas-Guevara, 19, Wichita, was eastbound on Kansas 96 one mile east of I-135.
The vehicle came to a stop in the roadway to avoid striking a dog and was rear-ended by a 2002 Saturn driven by Leon H. Wood, 69, Valley Center.
The Saturn then entered the adjacent lane causing a 1998 Ford box truck driven by Luis Perez-Despaigne, 47, Wichita, to make an evasive maneuver and strike a 1997 GMC Sierra pick up driven by Kenis R. Johnson, 57, Wichita.
The Sierra than spun around facing westbound in the eastbound lanes and was struck by 2000 Ford F-150 driven by Jennifer R. Schuttler, 27, Derby.
Ticas-Guevara was transported to Wesley Medical Center. Wood was transported to St. Francis Medical Center. No other injuries were reported.
The KHP reported all were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
