Bernie Kitten, director of utilities for the city of Hays, will present a water supply update to city commissioners during their work session Thursday night.

The city monitors water flow in its water well fields on a weekly basis.

Late last week, for the first time in five years, there was rainwater reaching the Hays Smoky Hill River well field south of Schoenchen.

Nick Willis, assistant utilities director, explained the city uses several water monitoring methods:
