Police: Meth found during drug busts, children placed in protective custody

GREAT BEND — At approximately 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers of the Barton County Sheriff’s Office executed a series of search warrants at locations in Great Bend and  rural Barton County.

During the execution of these warrants, approximately 9 ounces of methamphetamine was seized, along with drug paraphernalia. The meth is believed to have the street value of in excess of $20,000.

Sheriff’s deputies also seized vehicles and other assets at the scene.

Three arrests were made in connection with the warrants. Israel Klein, 29, Jose Enriquez, 31, and Jacqueline Verduzco-Gonzales, 21, all of Great Bend were taken into custody. Several children were also taken into protective custody and placed with child services.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and several more arrests and search warrants are expected. The sheriff’s office was assisted by officers from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Great Bend Police Department.
