Another round of thunderstorms approaching Tuesday afternoon

weather062414

An early morning front skirted north of Ellis County, but dropped about a half-inch of rain on areas of Graham and Rooks counties.

But after just trace amounts in most Hays-area rain gauges Tuesday morning, more moisture could be on the way.

Another round of potential thunderstorms is ready to roll into the region Tuesday afternoon and overnight, according to the National Weather Service in Dodge City.

The storms could bring an inch of rainfall into the area, as well as potentially large hail and gusting winds.

The storms are expected to develop west of U.S. 283, and the NWS is warning of the potential of tennis ball-sized hail and localized flooding.

Thunderstorms could continue Wednesday afternoon and evening, as well. The long-range forecast calls for a return of wet weather beginning Saturday along the Interstate 70 corridor.
