TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A state legislator has issued what he calls a dual endorsement in the Kansas Republican primary for the U.S. Senate.

State Sen. Forrest Knox, of Altoona, previously endorsed incumbent Republican Pat Roberts for a fourth term. But the campaign of Roberts’ challenger, Milton Wolf, said Monday that Knox is also endorsing the Leawood radiologist.

Knox says in a statement he’s encouraging GOP voters to consider both Roberts and Wolf in deciding who would best represent conservative views in Washington and limit the growth of government regulations.

He says Wolf is running a grassroots campaign and is deserving of consideration.

Two other Republicans — Alvin Zahnter, of Russell, and D.J Smith, of Osawatomie — are also challenging Roberts in the state’s Aug. 5 primary.
