weather062514

A significant front passed through the region Tuesday afternoon, but offered Ellis County only sprinkles.

While forecasts called for the potential of more than an inch of rain, the most significant report was from southwest Ellis County — 0.14 inches. Most gauges in Hays and Ellis County showed anywhere from 0.02 to 0.08 inches.

There were reports of about a half-inch of rain in southwest Trego County, while Logan and Ness counties each had a report of more than an inch of precipitation.

The front swept to the south and took aim at the Wichita area, depositing nearly 2.5 inches of rain there.

The forecast today calls for a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight, mainly before 9 p.m.
